Lower Pencubitt is ideally located for exploring South East Cornwall and West Devon. The area provides a wide range of attractions and leisure activities: coast and sandy beaches, cliff walks, Cornish fishing ports, quiet villages, National Trust properties, golf, cycling, branch line railways, fishing, hiking and back-packing on Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor, and exploring the romantic ruins of mining heritage. Liskeard town is a short distance from Lower Pencubitt and offers shops, market, supermarkets, leisure centre and museum. A 30 minute drive takes the visitor to the centre of Plymouth, which offers a very wide range of facilities, shops, restaurants and entertainment to suit all. The historic Barbican, from where the Mayflower sailed to the New World, retains the charm of old buildings and waterfront, and is also the location of the National Marine Aquarium, as well as the starting point for river trips up the Tamar.
The town of Looe, and the village of Polperro are a short drive south from Lower pencubitt. Looe can also be reached by train from Liskeard station. The line runs down a wooded valley before running along the shore of the East Looe estuary. Looe has a bustling harbour and fish quay, and a sandy beach. A moderate walk along the cliffs to the west leads via Talland bay to Polperro harbour and village, with its narrow streets and legends of smuggling and piracy.
For those planning to explore deeper into Cornwall, Lower Pencubitt is conveniently located just a short distance from the A38 and A390 roads, providing easy access to the Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan and many more historic houses and gardens.
